Things we walk past everyday...
but never take the time to look at - welcome to the fair and lovely city of DC - how many people know where the two pictures are taken from? often times we walk everywhere without really noticing what is around us - we have our ipod in our ears, we are starting at a piece of paper, we are looking around, talking on the cell phone, thinking about our work, thinking about our day, trying to avoid people, shuffling around through life not noticing the little things around us - too concerned with getting to our destination to sit down and complain about the day - or just sit and have a beer and forget about the day - not taking the time to really see what is around us and what is going on...so have you done this today? how many people fall into this category? i know i do and when i realize i am doing it, i stop and look around and watch people and relax and make up stories about them and what is going on in their heads - why they are walking fast, why they feel the need to be on the phone all the time - yeah...
if you notice one thing - when people leave their own city and go to another, they notice more, they pay attention - or if they leave the country, they notice the simple beauty of the area around them and continue, they take pictures and bring them back home and share them with friends - so do you do that in your own city? do you take pictures of things you see around you in your own city? if no,why not? isn't your city as beautiful as any other city? i mean people obviously find it to be beautiful, otherwise they wouldn't take pictures and take it back home to share with others - why, do we as humans, take for granted what we have RIGHT in front of us.
my friends make fun of me, cause i take my camera everywhere i go - they tell me i am silly, but then they want to see my pics - i know we can remember things, and we have great memories, but not all of us are blessed with photographic memories - in fact, often we have to take photographs to make our memories - how crazy is that - so then, why don't we walk around with a camera in the town that we live in? i know for a fact, that DC is a dynamic city, where there is always something new - the scenery changes from day to day - the world around us is continually evolving and moving - yet, we all just walk by with our ipods in and don't think about stopping and staring.
life is all about what is around you - life shouldn't be your work and your work shouldn't be your life. life is experiences and enjoying - getting up in the morning and watching the sunrise - walking in the evening to watch the sunset - taking in the nasty days and the beautiful days. life is enjoying - play in the rain, don't hate it - enjoy it - so you get wet, that is the worse that can happen...
