Bogged down in emails...

ever feel that you are often deleting more that you are reading...that when you open up the computer you are kinda scared - damn, more emails - damn...see...only a 104 you might say, man i have at least 1,400 emails in my inbox, heck 104 emails is what i get in a daily basis...is this something to brag about? i don't know about you, but i am ready to blow up my email inbox and start from scratch...maybe that is why people change email addresses often, so once in their life they can open up their email and see a inbox count of ZERO...

has life gotten so out of control that we can't live without the instant gratification of information and answers...it has...and as we continue to expand out techinical capabilities then we get more and more dependent upon them - to the point that i actually don't remember when i received a letter in the mail (outside of all that junk mail that i always keep getting) or when i have actually written a letter...damn - i am no better - in fact, i was having this conversation with a friend the other day about getting a cell phone that would keep me accessed to my email and the internet...and i went back and forth, but ended with me saying - no way, i am already addicted to it enough, that i would be horrible...so i have decided that if i have a cell, that it would be simple, i don't even want a camera on my phone...

the reality of the situation is such - the more and more we make our lives easier, the more and more we complicate it. now there is not just one way of getting in touch with people, but many. this is good and bad. i like it and i don't. i will be quite honest though, i know this has happened to you as well, when you don't have a cell or access to the internet, you go through withdrawls, which (depending upon how dependent you are on them) can last up to one week...but then, for some unknown reason you get used to being without it...and you enjoy it - then for some unknown reason you are drawn back to it and you want it again - it is like crack...it is horrible...

so here it is - we all think it, but we never verbalize it. i think we should have a "National Write a Letter Day" - where we actually write letters to the ones we love, and not email them. bring back the personal touch to relationships. who is with me? I think it would be a great way of getting back into the habit of it and i think it might help us all learn a little patience...which is one thing that is going away...(you know how you react if your computer takes more than a minute to load, you start cursing at it and yelling at it, like it can hear you and start to move faster becaue you are yelling at it...)

damn, i have been away from email for about 5 minutes...i wonder if anyone has emailed me...

till later...
